Joe Penhale is shocked when his ex-wife Maggie, seemingly amnesiac and believing that they are still married, arrives in Portwenn. Not to upset her, he plays along but eventually has to seek Martin's advice. Martin also treats fisherman Paul Hale, an old flame of Eleanor, who has Addison's disease but Louisa is shocked to find her mother is still playing the field. Heavily in debt Bert Large falls in with the local loan shark but at least Louisa and Martin get round to naming the baby.

A CENTURY IN THE SUN is the story of how Standard Oil magnate Henry Flagler comes to Florida in the late 1800s, builds a railroad and hotel empire on the last American frontier, and launches a population boom that lasts a hundred years. 

The film traces Flagler’s impact on Florida through the 20th century, as it becomes the fastest - growing state in the U.S. 

The film explores the consequences -- both intended and unintended -- of Flagler’s stunning success in launching the boom that drove Florida’s economy, until it was stopped in its tracks by the Great Recession.

A variety of destinations are explored, including forty feet beneath Biscayne Bay to visit the dearly departed, an island near Palm Beach that for decades harbored a strange government secret and the mysterious coquina ruins located in New Smyrna Beach.
