Gov. Rick Scott is Chairman of the Enterprise Florida board. His first term in office has been focused on growing jobs in Florida, but another government contract recently went to an out-of-state firm.

Statewide media consultant Ron Sachs went on a Facebook rant after Florida companies were skipped over for a local government contract in Tallahassee.

“The Tallahassee Airport leadership outsourced - without competitive bidding - a web development contract for about $23-thousand to an Atlanta-based company.”

In the aftermath of Tuesday's election losses, Republicans have been scrambling to formulate a fix for what went wrong.

A big part of that calculation involves repairing relations with Hispanics, the fast-growing electoral power base that rejected Republican Mitt Romney's "self deportation" immigration solution and voted for President Obama in numbers that exceeded 70 percent.

The White House and Congress continue to work on a deal that avoids the fiscal cliff and cuts deficits in the long run. One of the biggest hurdles is President Obama's proposal to raise tax rates for the wealthy.

Republicans think a better course would be to raise revenue by closing loopholes and limiting deductions for high-income people. The question is, could that method raise enough money.

It's Legal To Sell Marijuana In Washington. But Try Telling That To A Bank.

Voters in Washington and Colorado just approved measures legalizing marijuana for recreational use. But businesses that want to sell marijuana in those states will face a problem: No bank wants to do business with them.

I called several banks in Washington. I called a local credit union, a tiny bank in the San Juan islands. Everybody said basically the same thing. Even if selling marijuana is legal under state law, it's still illegal under federal law. And banks and credit unions worry that this could get them in trouble.

Court Will Hear Allen West's Recount Fight Tomorrow

A court will hear Allen West's demand for a recount on Friday.

A court in St. Lucie County is allowing Rep. Allen West  two hours on Friday to make his case for recounting the election that may have cost him his seat in Congress. 

Right now, unofficial results show that Democrat Patrick Murphy has a 0.58 percent lead over West.
